Take centre stage at Mansfield Market

Mansfield District Council is calling out for local artists to take up the offer of free performance space in the Market Place.

As part of the Mansfield Market transformation project, the council is hosting a series of events throughout the year to add atmosphere to the town and is welcoming local talent to come forward to be part of the new project.

Local singers, dancers, musicians, comedy acts and magicians are encouraged to use the performance space to show off their talents on stage in front of a captive audience. If you have an unusual skill or are looking for an opportunity to perform, the town centre could be the place for you.

In addition to local talent, the council has booked a series of street entertainers provided by Covent Garden Entertainment, who will be performing once a month in the Market Place. The next act is Arif, a former white van man turned entertainer who will be making appearances throughout the day on Saturday, 30 April.

Arif uses all of the tools of his trade to wow, entertain and thrill. Expect circus skills, comedy and hi-vis. He has entertained around the world including Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He is a regular at Covent Garden, London, and can be found every summer hosting the Sensation Seekers stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Mike Robinson, director for economic growth, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming new talent to the town centre and hope that performers are as eager to take up the offer of free performance space as we are to see them.

“The monthly Covent Garden acts are sure to be a real hit so don’t miss out on this world class entertainment.”

Performance space can be booked by calling 01623 463818 or emailing [email protected]. More information about what’s on at Mansfield Market can be found at www.mansfieldmarket.co.uk. Follow @MansfieldMarket on Instagram, like MyMansfieldUK on Facebook and follow @MDC_News.
