Kingfisher Court Care Home in Sutton gave back to the local community this Christmas.
Liz Barrett, principal at the Academy Transformation Trust Further Education, Sutton, asked residents to get involved in a project knitting blankets for the college’s Let’s All Eat initiative.
The college is helping the fight against food poverty in the local area and said because people are having to make challenging decisions based upon whether to eat or put their heating on, it is including knitted blankets along with its food parcels.
The home said: “We wanted to help support their initiative further by donating food too. Our relatives and staff all banded together to donate food, which we are so thankful.”
On Friday Linda Smith, from Let’s All Eat, collected the food and blankets and had to make two car journeys to take it all away.
