In a spectacular festival celebrating educational achievements, 22 schools from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire came together for The Flying High Trust Awards at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall.

Showcasing the achievements of staff, families, community members and children, it attracted 2,200 people.

The trust is the fourth highest performing multi-academy trust in the country and was recently voted joint-first, top multi-academy trust by the Times Educational Supplement (TES).

The Flying High Partnership’s chief executive, Chris Wheatley, said: “The children displayed their confidence and performing skills on the magnificent stage in front of a huge audience and are a credit to themselves, families and schools.”

Children performed musical medleys, including songs by The Beatles, Elton John and more.

The Flying High Partnership member primary academies includes Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy; The Flying High Academy, Mansfield; Greenwood Primary and Nursery School, Kirkby; Kirkstead Junior Academy, Pinxton; Leamington Primary School, Sutton; Mapplewells Primary and Nursery School, Sutton; Peafield Lane Academy, Mansfield Woodhouse), Pinxton Village Schools: John King Infant Academy and Longwood Infant Academy.
