Families can take part in a 1k run in Sherwood Pines on Sunday, 3rd September and help raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, North Anston.

The 1k Bluebell Wood Fun Run, which starts just before this year’s Active Forest Sherwood Pines 10k Trail Race, is open to everyone.

All proceeds will go to the charity that supports children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions in North Nottinghamshire and beyond. Organisers are also hoping that many 10k participants will run for Bluebell Wood.

Giving people of all ages and fitness levels a chance to enjoy the undulating forest and nature reserve trail half an hour before the bigger Trail Race, the 1k Bluebell Wood Fun Run can be entered online at www.runbritain.com/races until 26 August.

David Corbett, race director, Sherwood Pines Trail Races, said: “We’re delighted to have Bluebell Wood on board as our nominated charity for the event. We’ve renamed our Fun Run the Bluebell Wood Fun Run but we’re also hoping that many runners taking part in the main 10k race will also support Bluebell Wood.

“I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the hospice on a few occasions and it’s always great to see the amazing work the staff do with the children and families in their care. We’re pleased that funds raised through our events are helping to support this work”.

It’s a pleasure working with the people who make events like this happen, who create a wonderful atmosphere for everyone taking part, including the volunteers.”
