8th November marks the 120th anniversary since the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895; nowadays known as World Radiography Day.
To celebrate the anniversary, Sherwood Forest Hospitals will be holding educational events for members of the public at both the King’s Mill and Newark Hospital sites, to enable them to get a better understanding of the uses and workings of radiology today.
On Tuesday, 10 November, members of the public will have the opportunity to take a 30-minute behind-the-scenes guided tour of the X-ray department at King’s Mill Hospital.
Whilst on Thursday, 12 November, the Newark Hospital radiography team will be talking people through the types of radiological investigations that are performed at the hospital, including ultrasound and CT scans, and providing an understanding of the daily workings of the department.
Admission to both events is free to the public, but places are limited, so advanced booking will avoid disappointment.
