Two Local Nature Reserves — Quarry Lane, Mansfield, and The Carrs, Warsop — were among seven parks in the Mansfield district to win Green Flag Awards.
The award recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.
Yeoman Hill and Peafield parks in Mansfield Woodhouse and Carr Bank, Titchfield, and King George V in Mansfield retained their prestigious Green Flags.
The council’s portfolio holder for the environment, Coun Andrew Tristram, said: “This is fantastic news. These open spaces are our own magnificent seven.
“We are especially delighted that two of the council’s Local Nature Reserves have this year reached Green Flag status and this is something we will be aiming to build on in the future.
“The success in retaining these accreditations and earning two new ones reflects the great efforts of the council’s parks team, who have been working hard to ensure that these open spaces were at their best when the judges came to view them.
“I would also like to thank all the friends groups and volunteers who do so much in our parks and open spaces, too. Their help is invaluable and we really appreciate everything they do.”
Anyone who would like to get involved as a volunteer at any of Mansfield’s parks and open spaces should call Andy Chambers on 01623 463510.
