Kingfisher Court Care Home in Sutton celebrated the 100th birthday of one of its residents.

The home hosted a beach-themed party for Kath Rixon to mark her special day.

There were lots of balloons — one of her favourite things — flowers and the company of her friends and family.
Kath also received a birthday card from the Queen.

The home said: “Kath has always loved going to Skegness over the years, but as she wasn’t able to get (for her birthday) we made sure we brought the beach to Kath.

“We had sandcastles; Skegness Rock; the Jolly Fisherman; Lah Di Dahs – Vintage Vocals, singing in the garden; and Dinky the pony, from Pony Magic Nottingham.

“For lunch they had fish and chips and then a BBQ for tea.

“There was no pandemic or rain stopping the celebrations and the feedback from Kath’s family was really lovely for the team who pulled out all the stops to ensure Kath had an unforgettable and fabulous day.”

Kath’s grandson shared his thanks on Facebook, saying: “Happy 100th birthday to my amazing gran.

“Thank you to all the brilliant staff at Kingfisher Court for making the day so special.”
