Nottinghamshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) is launching a recruiting campaign to find new young people and adult volunteers to join the youth organisation.

The campaign, which will include radio, Facebook and Instagram advertising, will run for four weeks.

With detachments across the county, Senior Adult Volunteer Colonel Alan Burt, Commandant of Nottinghamshire ACF, explained what individuals can gain by volunteering in their spare time.

“There is so much on offer for both cadets and adults in the county. Individuals can gain new skills, improve their confidence, meet new friends and in some cases gain qualifications such as a BTEC,” he said.

“We have had great success with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme in recent years too, which is a fantastic edition to add onto your CV or university application.

“Our adult volunteers come from all walks of life but the one thing we all have in common is the desire to see young people achieving.”

The ACF has 40,000 cadets in more than 1,600 detachments all over the country and is one of the largest youth organisations in the UK.

Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Matthew Frost, aged 17, from Worksop Detachment said: “If you want to do something different outside of school joining the ACF could be for you.

“There’s loads of opportunities to take part in camps and adventurous activities like mountain biking, rock climbing, archery, fieldcraft and generally learning life-skills. Plus if you are in to sports the ACF has different competitions for both boys and girls at county, regional and national levels. I’d definitely recommend giving it a go.”

Nottinghamshire ACF has detachments throughout the county including Bilborough, Bulwell, Mansfield, Newark, Nottingham, Retford, Worksop and Southwell.
